A member asked:

Ive had swollen lymph nodes in my groin for 3-4 months. sti and uti testing is negative. ultrasound showed three lymph nodes (1.4 x 1.0 cm, 1.0 x 0.8 cm, 0.5 x 0.3 cm) that were prominent, presumably reactive. does this rule out cancer?

Infection vs cancer: Any prominent, presumably reactive lymph nodes can be due to infection or more rarely Lymphoma/Leukemia. The definitive diagnosis is made by imaging of the body (scan) and/or biopsy. A visit to a knowledgeable doctor is required to rule out the more serious issues and order appropriate testing.

Watch and wait: You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!
