Im due an ultrasound on multiple painless swollen lymph nodes, will the scan show if the lymph nodes have cancer cells in them?

Unlikely: An ultrasound does not have the resolution to see cancer cells. The image may or may not suggest cancer, but definitive diagnosis requires removal of the node and examination by a pathologist.
