Minor sore throat in right tonsil which comes with a cough occasionally. some minor ear pain comes and goes but nothing major. i just noticed lymph nodes near ears are mildly swollen. what could this be? allergies? also no fever or sinus problems.

Sore throat,nodes: These symptoms may be due to a viral upper respiratory tract infection, but swelling of lymph nodes and discomfort around the tonsil raises the possibility of infectious mononucleosis. I recommend an examination by your physician or at least a throat culture, cbc and differential white blood cell count and mononucleosis test.
