Yes & possibly.: For those with Severe COVID 19 disease there may be long-term or even permanent lung damage. The lung tissue can become inflamed and the lungs can fill with fluid. Those who are most at risk for this are people with COVID 19 who develop Acute Respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Many people recover lung function over time but may require pulmonary rehabilitation.
