Lung damage: For those with Severe COVID 19 disease there may be long-term or even permanent lung damage. The lung tissue can become inflamed and the lungs can fill with fluid. Those who are most at risk for this are people with COVID 19 who develop Acute Respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Inflammation & clots: COVID 19 produces inflammation in the lungs, as either a a direct effect of the virus the virus is a trigger to the immune response, which in its effort to get rid of the virus can cause a release chemicals and white blood cells that damage the lung. In some cases this can cause scarring of the lung and longer term damage. A second problem is the virus triggering lung blood clots to form.
