Not quite: The leap year is just a calendar adjustment. There are leap years on the solar calendar (the regular one we all use; adds 1 extra February day in a leap year) and also on the lunar calendar (lunar leap years add 1 extra month). Because your body has no idea what calendar you are using, periods keep on their pattern regardless of calendar changes. You just have to get used to the new numerical day.
