A member asked:

Are all acute transformations rare or is there good evidence that the probability of such an occurrence depends upon the particular type of underlying myeloproliferative disorder that a person has? i'm told that there is more than one type of md.

Depends: On the type of myeloproliferative disorder, highest transformation risk being seen in CML, up to 90% in some studies for refractory cases and as low as 10 % in polycythemia Vera or 5% in essential thrombocythemia.
