The question is not about me I understand that an acute transformation of overlap myeloproliferative/myelodyplastictiy disorder is the terminal phase of the disorder But what is a blastic transformation of the disorder? Is it the same thing as an ac?
A family member has a myeloproliferative disorder. He does have a good hematologist and is stable. However, generally speaking, can an acute transformation take place over a few months, a few weeks or even a few days? We need to be prepared?
I would appreciate some clarity on an important matter. Are myelodsyplastic and myeloproliferative disorders pre-malignant conditions or are they malignancies by their very nature even before an acute transformation has occurred?
Are all acute transformations rare or is there good evidence that the probability of such an occurrence depends upon the particular type of underlying myeloproliferative disorder that a person has? I'm told that there is more than one type of MD.
