A member asked:

If male child, age 11, has hand xray shows bone age 2 to 2-1/2 years ahead of chronological age, does this indicate precocious puberty?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: Advanced bone age in isolation is not puberty. It can be found in some whose other pubertal changes (growth spurt/genital hair/testis & penile growth) suggest the process in ongoing. All must be placed in context of all relevant info.I doubt anyone would consider this precocious at the age of 11 anyway.
