A member asked:

Hi, my daughter is 14 months, has a temperature of 38.8 currently, i presume its due to her teething, as apart from that, shes well. i currently have a damp face cloth on her forehead, at what point/temperature should i take her to the hospital?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

38.8C = 102F: That's a bit high, and probably caused by virus rather than teething. 1st call her Pediatrician and report her status. Then keep changing cool washcloth, frequently wiping her down all over with cool washcloth. Give her children's Tylenol or children's Motrin, as per package directions, if okayed by Pediatrician. Monitor her temperature, and take her to Pediatrician or ER if it goes up.
