See below: Assuming you did not have any oral or dental trauma, he is probably testing your cranial nerves which could be affected by head injury.

Full exam: A complete and thorough exam includes the examination of the mouth and teeth. This is especially pertinent with any head and neck trauma to see if there was any damage done intraorally.
