400mg daily: It appears the main issue is leg cramps. Magnesium, calcium and potassium are the main culprits, if electrolytes are depleted, although there are other causes. Adequate hydration with water and/or electrolyte solutions can help, stretching before the sport, and strengthening muscles including endurance training will also help.
