Hard to say: Chickenpox is usually a self healing infection that features continued breakouts over 5-7 days & low grade fever. In the pre-vaccine era about 50 deaths & 10,000 hospitalizations occurred yearly in the USA among the 2 million cases seen. Many times they have mouth blisters that lead to dehydration & can develop a related pneumonia. Call his doc. If he spooks you have him seen.
