Maybe school records: A person's school records from elementary, middle, and high school, plus her pediatrician's records, might have information about a past learning disability. Since a significant learning disability doesn't go away with age, she should still be in that situation in her early 40's. A speech therapist might now be able to do some formal tests, if a person no longer has access to old health records.

Look for local help: A doctor can be sanctioned or lose their license for righting notes &/ or prescribing medication to anyone without a valid patient patient relationship, retrievable records and a current exam. Uninsured persons can sometimes find a local clinic/social services agency that can set up a proper evaluation. No such services are offered on this site.
