I am a nursing student. my patient had an inr of 1.2 so he was put on heparin. do you know what may have caused his inr to be that low?

Nothing, because...: If nothing is going on, a person will have a normal inr, which is 0.8-1.2. The INR gets higher when a person is put on medication to become anticoagulated.

Unless they are on: Warfarin this value is not low. If on warfarin dose should be increased unless they just started taking.
