A member asked:

I recently went for my discovery health check and my total cholesterol was 2.5mmol although under 5.0 the nurse did say that too low can also be a problem. should i consult my gp?

Numbers are numbers: Lab results are just numbers, and have little meaning without looking at the whole person, meaning the person's primary care doctor who knows him best will be best able to interpret the results. The cholesterol quantity is divided into Good cholesterol (HDL) and Bad cholesterol (LDL, TG), so those numbers make a big difference. Details are very important. Talking with a doctor can help.
