Maybe if at risk. : The usual course of chickenpox is 5-10 days starting in the trunk and moving down the extremities. When the lesions are dry and crusted the contagious period is over. If your child has high fever, cough, trouble breathing or seems very ill those maybe signs if complications to see the doctor. Also if the lesions are red larger than a penny this needs to see the doctor. Soda baths for itch.
