Has : Has your son been vaccinated for the chicken pox? (most kids are vaccinated between 12-15mos and again at 4 to 5 years or age) if he has been vaccinated, that would make having the chicken pox much, much less likely. A rash with raised red bumps (sometimes itchy) is called a maculopapular rash and can be caused by many, many things such as: -food or drug allergy -viral infections such as fifths disease, roseola, ebv, CMV just to name a few -insect bites such as fleas or scabies -bacterial infection such as scarlet fever (caused by strep) -medication reaction the list goes on and on. The best thing to do is to call your child's doctor. They may want to take a look to see what it may be. Good luck!

Was he vaccinated?: Was he vaccinated against chicken pox? Was he exposed to someone with chicken pox recently? If there were no blisters, it is just a rash one sometimes get from other viral infections. If he has not received the chicken pox vaccine, he should get it after the current problem has passed.
