My 4 year old has chicken pox since last thursday. been applying calamine lotion but it doesn't seem to be working. should i take him to a gp. he hasn't missed any immunization medications.

Maybe: I find calamine excessively drying & stinky & never use it. It takes 5-7 days for most CP lesions to dry regardless of what you use. The primary goal is to keep the sites clean & observe for possible invasion/infection by simple skin germs. As long as the sites are free from localized infection I would manage this at home. A visit just exposes more kids/adults to active disease.
