Back to sleep: Place your son on his back to sleep, check for signs of pain, hunger or infection. Allow him to develop his own self soothing techniques. As the baby matures his pattern of sleep will become more regular.

Some basics: Delivery is your main signal/chance to separate from the baby so they develop individual skills. In the womb they were tightly held & part of your every movement. After birth they can only develop self soothing & sleep competence if you stop trying to hold/nurture all the time. Put the kid down & sit nearby as needed talking to them from a distance. In time you both will adapt.
