Dentist said she would rx anti-anxiety med for me to take before wisdom teeth appt. mentioned either xanax or valium. i know they're also benzos, but how are they different from ativan in terms of side effects and likelihood of side effects?

Benzodiazepines : Xanax contains alprazolam (lasts 6-12 hrs and helps to reduce anxiety without much sleepiness) while valium has diazepam (over 20 hrs and causes sleepiness and slightly helps with anxiety) and ativan has lorazepam (6-10 hrs reduces anxiety and has a smaller hypnotic effect compared with diazepam)
