Workup required: Further work up is likely required at this point. Sediment in the urine is never normal and may be a sign of a more serious condition that should be identified as soon as possible. Please seek in-person care, the work up of urine sediment is complex and requires close follow up.

UTI symptoms: A simple urinalysis without a urine culture and colony count is not sufficient to rule out a uti. In addition, in view of your symptoms, I recommend a microscopic examination of your urine to look for red blood cells which may be seen with kidney stones, tumors or cysts. An ultrasound of the kidneys may also be revealing. Discuss this with your physician.
