The time, expense, and radiation associated with CT is not warranted .However, for women, in whom ovarian pathology can mimic appendicitis, and for men whose diagnosis is less certain, obtaining a CT scan is appropriate. Yes: The appendicitis is an equal opportunity process. Whatever happened 2 months ago or 2 years ago does not mean you would not have developed appendicitis today. That evaluation was a snapshot in time but things can happen since. If you can't walk without pain &/or have other signs suggesting appendicitis go in & have it evaluated.
