Is contrast fluid necessary in a ct scan looking for appendicitis? ?

depends: Acute appendicitis can be diagnosed with good accuracy by history, physical exam, ultrasound, and non-contrast ct scan of abd/pelvis. Now is some cases, where exam, history and other imaging is not diagnostic and observation of the patient with a surgeon is not possible, more sophisticated imaging, contrasted ct can help. Be well.
