Doesn't happen: Strains of HPV have specific living/tissue requirements. You don't live under water, simple skin wart strains don't live on the genitals. Genital wart strains don't cause skin warts. The way you get genital warts or non-wart genital HPV is by genital to genital spread from an infected partner. They need not have obvious genital warts or symptoms to spread it.
