Concern for husband: long hx of alcohol use (24 beers/week x 25 years), now labs show AST of 51 and ALT of 48. Ultrasound showed gallstones but also a 6 cm mass in liver and coarse echotexture of liver. Are we facing cirrhosis? MRI ordered?
Liver enzymes were normal in early April AST was 32, ALT was 28, at that time I was drinking maybe 4 or 5 pints of beer on weekends (no alcohol during week). Since then, I have had 5-8 pints per wknd...blood test in a week ..will liver levels rise?
