Very nonspecific: Elevated platelets are similar to ESR and nonspecific for inflammation. The ESR is increased in inflammation, pregnancy, anemia, autoimmune disorders (rheumatoid arthritis ,lupus), infections, kidney diseases and cancers (lymphoma ,multiple myeloma). It is a very nonspecific-test and by itself means nothing.Ask why was it done.It is not good to do a test if you do no know why doing you are doing it.
