A member asked:

Cbc test for insurance highlighted 2 abnormal readings: platelets 422 (normal up to 400) esr 60 (normal up to 23) are such values high enough to indicate a serious condition like malignancy?

Very nonspecific: Elevated platelets are similar to ESR and nonspecific for inflammation. The ESR is increased in inflammation, pregnancy, anemia, autoimmune disorders (rheumatoid arthritis ,lupus), infections, kidney diseases and cancers (lymphoma ,multiple myeloma). It is a very nonspecific-test and by itself means nothing.Ask why was it done.It is not good to do a test if you do no know why doing you are doing it.
