Dad, 85, cbc today had esr of 40 (0-30) & eosinophils 10.9(0-7). esr was 35 and eosinophils 7.8 in sep. good diet, daily exercise, feels fine. p-smear always has shown mild anisocytosis for 10 yrs. more testing for cancer or infections right away?

His ESR is normal when adjusted for age, eosinophilia is best assessed in absolute value. Given chronic anisocytosis best would be to get a hematologist involved early, hard otherwise to initiate infectious or malignancy work up with no focus suggested by symptoms or exam.
