A member asked:

Can pcos rather have a neurological cause instead of a metabolic one and can it be caused by a pituitary tumor? if it is will it still be pcos?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCOS ?: PCOS is caused by repeated ovarian stimulation without ovulation. It is not caused by a pituitary tumor, which will cause cessation of ovarian function if it is enlarged. If PCOS is diagnosed, and pregnancy is desired, ovarian stimulation may be necessary, and you should see a reproductive endocrinologist for fertility treatments. If not, low dose oral bcp's are the best treatment.
