PCOS: Pituitary adenomas cause elevated prolactin levels which may be seen in pcos but it is felt that these are independent disorders and that the pituitary doesn't cause pcos which,since it tends to run in families, is most likely a genetic disorder. Pituitary tumors alone don't cause the high androgen features needed to diagnose pcos and therefore don't cause true pcos.
