My 19 month old son had ear infections 3 times in less than 6 months & is starting to pull his ears again! he can only say about 14 words . can ear infections cause speech delay & what can be done to solve it ?

Yes/grommets: For any given ear infection they retain fluid/pus in their middle ear which causes a 40% +/- drop in their hearing for as much as 6 wks. Chronic recurrent otitis is linked to speech/language delays. Ventilation tubes (grommets) placed after the middle ear mucus is removed can improve hearing immediately & reduce infection frequency.
