A member asked:

Labs show slightly low mcv and elevated platelets. other results, cbc & cmp, are normal. what would this mean? i have mast cell activation syndrome.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron deficiency: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, iron deficiency can explain both low MCV and high platelet count. You may take oral iron and multivitamins and discuss the matter with your doctor.
