A member asked:

Would taking only 5 mg of zinc daily offset my copper balance or is this ok to take long term without risks of inducing a copper deficiency?

Totally fine: The recommended daily intake of zinc is 15 mg. It is perfectly safe to take this long-term without inducing copper deficiency. It is recommended one should have a ratio of zinc to copper of 8-12:1 which means one should be ingesting about 0.5 mg of copper to balance 5 mg of zinc. This is readily obtained via diet. Zinc deficiency is much more common than copper so this is quite reasonable.
