Gum pain Gum pain: You may have something lodged underneath your gums causing the redness and the pain. Popcorn kernels or other hard pieces can get stuck under your gums. This causes a localized infection with the redness, swelling and pain. See a dentist to get this checked out and the debris removed.

Sore red gums: May be as simple as a food impaction area or an area that has been scratched or burned. May be more complex as in advancing gum disease, or as serious a a systemic disorder. You must be examined and possibly imaged to arrive at a diagnosis as to the cause of your distress. Once diagnosed, appropriate treatment can be instituted. See your Dentist.
