A member asked:

I have a small red spot on my gum near my teeth and i'm worried. i just saw it today in the morning and my gums don't hurt or any thing. gingivitis?

No: Discreet red spots are not gingivitis. Make an appointment to see your Dentist in about 14 days. If the red spots are gone by then, cancel the appointment. If spots are still present, or if you note any other anomalies, DO NOT MISS the appointment. If you're uncomfortable physically or emotionally, see your Dentist now.

Small rest spot: This might be as simple as an irritation from food or the bristles of a toothbrush. However, it CAN NOT be diagnosed over the internet, sight unseen. You will need to see your own dentist to determine what it is and if it requires any treatment. When was your last dental exam? Perhaps you are due anyway.
