Period pain: Menstruation when endometriosis is present abdominally can cause referred pain due to the inflammation caused with blood inside the abdominal cavity, located on sensory nerve endings on the round ligament and other structures. If the "hip pain" is caused by endometriosis, bcp's can reduce the pain considerably by shutting down the ovaries .
