No: When a person has the illness mononucleosis (mono), it is almost always due to infection by EBV virus. Her "monospot" test, also called "heterophile antibody" test, should be positive approximately between 1 and 3 months after getting the infection. The test will be negative after that, but some reports say it is possible for some people to have a positive monospot up to 1 year after an infection.
