When they test for mono does it just show antibodies, so that someone still sick with it has the same results as everyone that's already had it?

No: There is a panel of tests that will look at mononucleosis markers of antigens and antibodies. The past infection shows old antibodies only.

Mononucleosis : The Epstein-Barr virus infection aka mononucleosis forms different sets of antibodies against different parts of the virus. Blood test can easily differentiate whether you have active infection, recent infection or past exposure.
