A member asked:

Been tired/sick & was tested for mono. monospot came back positive, ebv came back negative. can it take longer for ebv antibodies to show? worried...

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mono not specific: Monospot is not specific for EBV infection and may be positive due to other viral infections. Even if it is mono, there is no specific treatment for it and you need to wait out for the symptoms to subside. If you are want to be sure, repeat the EBV antibody test in two weeks. Wish you good health!
