Exposures: You can acquire strep as an infecting germ as often as you are exposed. It commonly passes in saliva, directly or indirectly. People touch their face/mouth several times /hour & can contaminate fingers with saliva that then passes to anything they touch. When you touch a contaminated surface you reverse the process & bring germs to your face/mouth. Complications are a random event.
