I had strep 6 weeks ago now for 2 weeks i have another sore throat that keeps switching sides. tonight my left side hurts so bad and into my ear. no other symptoms. is it a peritonsilar abscess? would i be able to see it?! my throat looks ok?

A PTA would distort the shape of an affected tonsil creating a bulge if it reached a size that would be worrisome/dangerous. Whether you would have the skill needed to recognize the difference is hard to say. The ones I have seen drove the patient in to get seen due to pain, difficulty swallowing.
