A member asked:

I've had a slighty abnormal papsmear within the last year that came back with agus. the doctor preformed a colposcopy that came back negative. i've had vaginal discharge that has been treated for years assuming it is bv. could this be cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: AGUS (Atypical Glandular cells of Undetermined Significance) pap-smears must be taken seriously. Some women with AGUS have cancer or pre-cancer in the cervix, uterus or even fallopian tube. A thorough work-up is needed. Usually this includes an endometrial biopsy, ultrasound and a Colposcopy that includes an endocervical curretage. AGUS must be evaluated carefully.
