My pap smear came bback abnormal. it was positive for hpv. i also had a colposcopy done and my doctor said there were a lot of abnormalties, what could be my results? is there a good chance i have cervical cancer?

Check with Dr.: The reason for doing pap smears with hpv is to prevent cervical cancer. Oftentimes they can find it early enough that it can be destroyed locally. It's hard to tell exactly what your abnormalities are. Follow-up with your doctor and you should be able to find out the specifics of these abnormalities. This is best discussed with your physician.

Cervical dysplasia: You most likely have a cervical dysplasia (pre-cancerous change). There are roughly twenty cases of dysplasia for every one cervical cancer case.

Also, most likely, the abnormal pap smear will turn out to be nothing concerning. Most abnormal pap smear return to normal over time without any treatment needed.
