A member asked:

My 2yo baby is fully vaccinated, got rotavirus last year (5 days mild diarrhea), this year he got it again only for 24hrs (heavier diarrhea), normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It happens: Rotavirus is the most common reason for diarrhea deaths in the world among infants. Before the vaccine it was responsible for most infant dehydration admissions in the US.The vaccine provides protection against several strains of the virus & has cut down the hospitalization rate substantially. However, infants & toddlers are expected to get diarrhea yearly. If it keeps them at home it is worth it.
