My son is 5yrs and has diarrhea for the past 6 days, his pediatrician said he has rotavirus what can i get him to eat or drink. please help?

The best things to: eat are bland foods, what we call the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, tea, toast). For fluids, Pedialyte liquid or pops or gatorade. If he is not vomiting, and won't eat the foods I mentioned, he can have any foods besides dairy, spicy, or fried foods. He may have more loose stools with any food that he eats, but will get better faster if he does eat more.

Avoid sugars found: in fruit juice (esp apple juice) and regular milk, but if he likes milk, give him Lactose reduced milk, such as Lactaid. give water or electrolyte solutions such as Gatorade or Pediatlyte or diluted soda Complex carbs found in breads and pasta are usually well tolerated as well as lean meats, hence the "chicken noodle soup" recommendation. Probiotics sometimes help. If not urinating, see doc.
