Ouch!: First of all, you should seek a medical consult. Antiviral prescribed medication may help to reduce further rash spread and pain. Further, people can get secondary bacterial infections from the crusty open sores and that can worsen the pain. Prescription antibiotics may help in that case. Capsaicin over the counter cream is used for nerve pain once the sores have dried up. Hope this helps!
