An mri shows a probable partial tear in my hand or lower arm. i have been having pain in my upper arm near elbow. what would the cause of this be?

More info helpful: The MRI report or the physician who ordered it should provide more detail. A partial tear of the upper extremity usually involves a tendon. If near your elbow, we think the common extensor (outside) or flexor (inside) tendon or the biceps. See details: There are numerous possible causes including tendinitis, epicondylitis, muscle teat,etc, etc. Have the elbow area evaluated.

NMS: But it may be from the tear . You should ask your orthopedist to check you again to make sure that there may also be some upper arm involvement with the same injury.
