Why would my doctor order an esophagram and gi series over an endoscopy? everything ive read says endoscopies are more thorough?

Less invasive: Both tests are less invasive and thus have less risk of complications and may still provide an accurate diagnosis. Endoscopies, while performed frequently, have inherent risks especially considering sedation is required.
