A member asked:

I had a abdominal hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. my wound still bleeds at time. there are small openings which heals and opens on different areas of the wound.i was 'glued'.i clean my wound with salt water as adviced by my dr.what can i do for it to heal?

Abdominal incision: An incision which still drains usually reflects an old hematoma (collection of blood) in the incision. Cleaning the would with "salt water" will not correct this. Eventually, all the accumulated fluid will stop or be absorbed. Schedule an exam with the surgeon who performed the hysterectomy so that the drainage can be examined and treated. Sometimes there is an opening below the incision.
