A member asked:

56yr female. i have developed a small hole near my urethral opening. it doesn't hurt or leak anything but l have abdominal discomfort for a few months and did have a hysterectomy back in 2015. what is it and could they be connected?

A "small hole" developing as described would be very unusual and you need an exam. Any explanation would otherwise be completely speculative, and the abdominal discomfort and hysterectomy are not obviously related given such limited information.

Such changes are suggesting a fistula, which suggests an abnormal connection between an organ and the skin. A visit with your general practitioner or Gyn specialist should be in place so that proper work up can be articulated. Infections are common in such circumstances and that’s why having it addressed timely matters.
